These are the places near the 'main' beaches -
ie: those on which you'd generally find other Naturists on a good day. Many of the beaches not pictured on this website are at least as pleasant as those which are shown, but because of their location - away from main routes or towns - are destinations, rather than an easy day's excursion. |
NorthlandHere is where Naturist accommodation is most plentiful. It includes Paradise near Kerikeri, the exotic Far North Emu, just north of Kaitia and even the (very) up-market Waitata Bay resort near Russell - so up market they won't allow kids or other pets! |
AucklandNaturist accommodation in Auckland itself is remarkably sparse; the largest of the Naturist clubs AONC has cabins available, with an INF passport (ASC has one small cabin) while in Drury, Counties also has more accommodation possibilities. Meantime, there's always the option of a visit to one of the Hauraki Islands. |
Upper Central Nth Is, Central NI, TaranakiWest of Tauranga the 'home' of the Papamoa Beach 'nude zone', try the superb Katikati Naturist Park (30 minutes west and signposted on State Highway 2 about 1 km south of Katikati). In the Taranaki area is the Naturist club: "Waionga Park" R.D. 42, Waitara, 4382. |
Gisborne - HB, Lower North Is, WellingtonAbout 20km west of Napier is the Hawkes Bay Naturist Club. Options for accommodation include a refurbished farmhouse, along with the usual club facilities as well as a pond for kayaking! Accommodation near Wellington, is pretty much only the Wellington Naturist club, located near Upper Hutt; about 40 km north of Wellington City. |
Nelson - Golden Bay - MarlboroughApart from the Nelson Sun Club, near Upper Moutere, accommodation options in Golden Bay include the Gazebo Backpackers, in Takaka, and Seaview Holiday Baches on the road to Farwell Spit. Don't rush through here, or the Abel Tasman National Park; as there are lots of beach options. |
Canterbury - Rest of South IslandIn general the South Island is a Naturist's paradise - especially Golden Bay and the West Coast; because there are fewer people around, and they're more relaxed about skinny-dippers. Just south of Christchurch, is the Pineglades Naturist Club which could to have cabins available. For accommodation near Dunedin, there is Kowhai Heights: an ex-hospital. |
