Uretiti Beach
Uretiti, the most popular of many Northland beaches, is 38km south of Whangarei and 5 km north of Waipu; a two hour drive north from Auckland. Immediately behind the beach the Department of Conservation administers a campground - the Uretiti Recreation Reserve entrance is right next to a police road-use checkpoint. There are temporary managers at the camp from December to Easter.

The 5km beach is very safe for families. A local group, Jaybirds, host various events at this beach,
including one in early December and another during February's National Naturist Week.
DoC charges $15 per adult (18+ years) and $7.50 per child (5-17years) for overnight camping - and there is a small note among
the camp rules saying "no nudity in camp."
Facilities have been improved over the years. The beach is just a 20m walk through the dunes.
More information can be found on the DOC Website
In the interests of 'user group harmony' DoC's Northern Conservancy in Whangarei mentioned in a camp flyer, that the nudists have a "voluntary policy" of walking south from the camp grounds. However, some unidentified people seem to have taken that as a direction! If anyone makes that a requirement of you, please get the person's name and report it to us please. (Note that DoC has no legal jurisdiction on the beach.)
The Department of conservation (DOC) campground can be accessed through Uretiti Beach Campsite
