JUNE - JULY 1988

Hi Folks!

The winter has come upon us in a hurry after a particularly good autumn. I hope some of you were able to get out and enjoy those two weekends of lovely sunshine we had at the end of April.

Everything is all set to go for our AGM and Waiwera trip on 27 August. We have a new hall, the Newton Community Centre Hall, at the bottom of Waima Street, just past the ACC Testing Station. The cost for Waiwera will be $18. Full details and a booking slip will be included in your next newsletter in July. Can anyone billet out-of-town members for the night? Please let us know.

Members are invited to send in details of any item they wish to have discussed at the AGM, and these will be added to the Agenda. Please get these to us before 20 June.

PHOTO COMPETITION: Just a reminder that photos and/or application forms should now be sent in. Closing date is 1 August.

RESTAURANT DINNER: We have planned a really great night out for our winter social event, so come along and enjoy yourselves. The dinner is at the Ming Court Chinese Restaurant, 72-74 Mokoia Road, Birkenhead. This is in Highbury, opposite the Farmers carpark. It is on Saturday, 2 July, starting at 7.30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 8 p.m. Cost is $26 each, and bookings should be made on the booking slip below. Do invite your friends, just add their names to your booking slip.

We are sorry to hear from Lyn Skipwith that Ron has died, while out on a fishing trip. Ron and Lyn have been staunch members of the Free Beach Group for many years, and have often been to our Ngatuhoa weekends. Last year they moved to Cairns to fulfill a lifelong dream. We extend our sincere sympathy to Lyn.

Member Kevin McClinchy wrote to the Takapuna City Council to help along our request for a free beach. The committee much appreciate your loyal support, Kevin.

Hope you have a snug winter.
