F. B. G. NEWSLETTER

Hello Friends,
Having got over my shock at being elected your Editor for the next year I will now start to keep you informed of the happenings and goings on or the beautiful people of the F.B.G.
With the help of my family we hope to keep you entertained, informed, amused and in communication with one another.
A.G.M.
As you all know the A.G.M. was held on Sunday 5th August and much to our delight Robin Hoare was re-elected as Chairman. After sterling service and much burning of midnight oil over the past two years, Ray and Marian are taking a much needed rest from the posts of Secretary and Treasurer. I am sure we will all miss their wonderful friendliness in their official capacity but look forward to seeing both of them sunning it up with the rest of us later on in the year.
It is with the greatest pleasure that I welcome back as our Secretary Lois Kennedy and as her assistant Tony Wilson.
The lovely Alison Milne has offered her services as Treasurer with Alf Gorring assisting her. As our P.R. man we have the one and only John Miller, and as our two remaining committee members we have Ted Knipe and Ron Williams.
The major points of interest arising from the A.G.M. are as follows:- The by-laws pertaining to visits to Nudist Clubs by F.B.G. members as outlined in your June newsletter were ratified. We ask you to PLEASE keep these in mind when visiting other clubs.
It was agreed that we continue in our effort to affiliate with N.Z.N.F. and it was to this end that Ray Woolhouse has been elected our roving delegate.
Last but not least due to increased rations for the carrier pigeon yearly subscription has been raised to $3.5O per unit, would you all like to be good little "Fred Bears" and send the money to Alison as soon as possible.
News From The Diary:
You may thank Ted Knipe who is responsible for organising our free time for the next few months. Top of the list is "SWIMARANA" at Panmure, where a pleasant evening can be held by all at a very reasonable cost, not only that but also we happen to have a financial commitment in this venture and your support would be appreciated.
It has been suggested that a social evening at Waiwera is just the thing we Fred Bears need to set us up for the coming summer. October 20th has been designated as our night and we would like you to fill in the accompanying form attached to this letter if interested.
Saunas:
Robin has discovered a new Sauna Complex at Howick and a small warm indoor swimming pool. People in the Howick Pakuranga district who are interested in getting together on a Sunday night to share in the delights of a Sauna, please contact Robin Hoare and we will see what can be arranged.

Fred Bears:
We have had some requests for woven or printed "Fred Bears" suitable for putting on Packs, Tents, Clothing etc; if you are interested please let us know on the enclosed form and we will take the matter further.
Clothing:
Fred Bear T shirts are available for sale from Marian Woolhouse, in all shapes and sizes. These are high quality garments that really look superb and sell at a very realistic price, so support your club by emblazoning your chest with that fantastic symbol.
Directories:
With the problem of car-less days and petrol shortages I would implore you all to turn to your directories so that car pooling can come into vogue in a big way. Please don't feel shy about ringing fellow Fred's or Freda's for that very necessary lift. If any of you have ideas on outings etc., Ted welcomes all suggestions and can be contacted at his home, phone 762-653.
Before winding up this letter I would very much like to seek your support in asking for news items, letters of interest, jokes or anything of interest to we F.B.G. members.
Look forward to seeing you at Waiwera.

Big surprise!

Sincerely yoursJudy
                Judy Miller.

P.S. We have no Diary details at hand from our 'Country Cousins' in Wellington, Christchurch etc.! We COULD invent them for you, but that might not be convenient. PLEASE let us know your arrangements in good time for the next NUDESLETTER.

VERY SHORT EDITORIAL FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PUBLIC RELATIONS PERSON
In the two short weeks since the A.G.M. I have acquired no less than three news clippings which point to a bright and prosperous future for us. First, the news that Brighton, that staid old symbol of Edwardian England, has approved a nude bathing beach and if they can do it can our authorities be far behind? Then a report from Marseilles that "Nudist Real Estate" is booming. Complete nudist towns have been built on the coast line between Marseilles and the Spanish Border.
One room flats costing $35,000 and two rooms at $50,000 dollars are being snapped up and Aphrodite Village will soon have 700 homes. Closer to home, news that the Broadcasting Tribunal has rejected a complaint against the "Access Programme" and has been critical of the complainants. [Citing] "Unimaginative mechanical approach adopted in it's desire to eliminate any real analysis and it's failure to recognize the subtleties involved in drawing the line". Which suggest that our cause becomes more and more acceptable all the time.
If any of you know of any quiet spots handy to the city that could be mentioned to local bodies as potential "swimsuit optional areas" please let me know as I hope to start a campaign in the council offices of local bodies on our behalf. Among these may be the "remote ends" of otherwise well patronised beaches. Also I welcome any of your polite Suggestions on any P.R. subject that interests you.
While I am well aware that "Rome was not built in a day" I hope we achieve some results sometime.

John Miller

  EASTERN PROMISE

The Howick sauna/spa and swimming pool facilities are both new and are quite separate from each other. We would need to have 20 people at the Sauna paying $2.50 each for it to be viable - specially opened for us from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sundays is suggested.
The swimming pool is medium sized, WARM, (35°C plus) and we would need 25 folk at $1.00 each for 2 hours, any evening we care to select except Wednesdays, after 5 p.m. Saturdays, any time on Sundays. They also do barbecue parties at $8.00 adult, $3.50 under twelves. These parties have booking preference. Perhaps we could organise the latter once a year. Swimming sessions would be held alternately with Swimarama.
Please let us know on the INSTANT LETTER if you are interested, with comments and details.
The idea of these local arrangements, of course, is to reduce fuel consumption and to foster friendships between members in close proximity. If YOU can find out facilities in YOUR area, do let us know.
IDEA - why not invite your (non-member) friends to the Sauna evenings? These are such a gentle and natural introduction to nudism!
