Dear Friends, 22nd February, 1978.

I hope that you are all enjoying the lovely summer weather that we are having, and storing away many happy memories.

NEWS FROM TOLAGA BAY

We are pleased to announce that at the N.Z.N.F. Council Meeting held at Tolaga Bay on the 28th December, 1977, our application to become an Associate Member was accepted. The Committee is now reviewing the situation.

Whilst at Tolaga Bay I had great pleasure in meeting many of our Country Members including several who had travelled up from Wellington for the Rally and was very impressed by their enthusiasm and determination to strengthen the local group formed down there. I must mention also how Gunther almost won the men’s singles table tennis final being narrowly beaten by Charles of the A.O.H.C. (We are not all lazy bones, but I am.)

REPORT FROM COMMITTEE MEETING.

We were delighted that Emiel the N.Z.N.F. Free Beach Convenor made our last Committee Meeting.

He told us that the Police Offences Act (Exposure of Person) is possibly being reviewed in the next session of Parliament, and in order that we get a 'Fair he wants as many Members of Parliament contacted, preferably personally, so that literature he is preparing can be handed over and discussed. If any member of our Group has friends in the Bee Hive, knows or has contact with an M.P. could they let Emiel or myself know. Please give Emiel your full support.

It is with great regret that I have to announce the sudden death of Gavin McLaughlin. Gavin who was a keen and very enthusiastic member will by missed by all of us.

NEWS FROM THE WEEKENDS

The Thames camping has so far this year proven to be very popular and ware very grateful to Brian for the use of his land. The camp on the 21st January being particularly notable, as so many Country Members had found their way there and a special award for bravery must go to Colin and Brenda for taking their caravan up there. (You were going to have it re-sprayed weren't you?)

The trip to Huia was a most pleasant outing and a special one for Bev and Robin for they introduced our youngest member 5 weeks old Elizabeth to the delights of sunbathing. Congratulations to Bev and Robin. (Thanks to Tony f or the report).

The long weekend at Papamoa Beach was a huge success even though it was poorly supported by Auckland Members, only a few of us managed to make the trip. The few that did go down there joined the 80 car loads of Country Members and Locals enjoying 2 days of glorious weather, on what must be one of the best beaches available. We had the chance to meet all the Local Organisers including Charles from the Waikato Group and his right had helper Diane. Ken the Local Organiser for Tauranga and Lindsey from Rotorua, who all brought along their locals and friends. Even Bill from Wellington made the trip. We had a couple of mentions on the local radio which encouraged a few of the locals to try Skinny Dipping, as was evident from their white bikinis, a very small number of sightseers and no trouble makers. Due to changing times, if you stay at the Papamoa Holiday Camp it is better to drive 2 miles up the road towards the Mount than walk along the beach. (I know because I tried it the first day.)

The trip to Kawakawa Bay was quite a notable day. We were happy to be joined by many new Members to he Group and due to the particularly high high tide they were able to show us what good mountaineers they are! Everyone enjoyed their day out.

And yet again the weather was good for our trip to Omaha and it was good to see that the new mountaineers had not been put off our trips.

There are two items of interest from the North Shore Nudist Club. They are holding an Open Day at their Club grounds on Sunday 5th March
to which we are cordially invited. They will have sports events in the afternoon (watch out for Alison) and a hangi for the evening meal, the cost of the meal being $2 per adult, $1 per child under 12 and $5 a family. See Diary for directions.

They have also invited us to join them in their Hot Pool Evenings. These are held on the last Friday of each month and are a very pleasant way of relaxing after a hard weeks toil and also keeps members in touch during the cooler part of the year. The cost will be as last year $1 per adult and 30 cents children.

We welcome news and ideas from Members or the Local Organisers, as it is apparent in my travels over the last two months that some of the Country Areas are very active and are to be congratulated on their efforts.

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to meet the guys who are the appointed Trustees of the National Nudist Resort (Hot Springs Purchasing Trust). I was very impressed with their report of its progress and they gave me the enclosed forms to distribute with the Newsletter. I would like to point out, that I mentioned to them that may be not too many people have the ready cash and was told that a large number were using the Bank Credit Order Form as a method to pay, which is of course, equally acceptable.

Don't forget when the Access Series .on T.V.2. Sunday Evenings commences in the very near future to keep an eye open for the Documentary on Social Nudity. Mention it-to as many people as you can before the programme. (You don't have to admit whether you are one of them or not) just get the' word around.

Last call for items for our stall at the Flea Market. There has been a very poor response so far, and the amount collected to the present time would not make it a worthwhile venture to continue with, should nothing further be contributed.

Just a reminder that we still have some Tee Shirts left. Children’s, S.M. and M. note we have sold out of O.S. size (should prove something.1) We also still have stickers at 50cents each.

I see looking at the Members Directory that although Stewart Island.. has not turned up with too many Members, our other Island (Australia) is starting to produce Members and we wish them well over there.

The leading Piscator so far this year must be Margaret, who caught three in one afternoon, one being a Stingray. Under Margaret's tuition a large fishing section appears to be developing (already Stuart has had his first bite).

I have heard a rumour that Bruce is the top eel catcher in the Group.(10 feet long from Thames). He is also reckoned to be the top barbecue chef. Has anyone been ill lately!

A timely Reminder - Now that your tan is coming on strong (I hope) it is still important not to be too sparing with the use of your sun screen oil etc. on shoulders and tops of heads and the like, particularly you blue eyed people.

Please don't forget to notify any change of address or telephone number.

To our new Members, a lot of our venues usually involve a walk, so I would advise comfortable shoes and a easy to carry bag for all your gear.

Des has again produced another interesting Diary f or the next few weeks, for which we thank him.

Well, what a terrific two months it has been what with the weather, our membership increasing, the tremendous weekend trips and our general progress.

Yours sincerely,

If all the year were playing holidays,
To sport would be as tedious as to work.

When you come to a box in the middle of a junction, turn right through the forest to the sea. Walk south along the beach. This beach is a firm favourite with members who have been on previous trips and is probably the finest ocean beach near Auckland. As this is a long weekend, you may like to camp. The camp site at Kaiwaka Road appears to be the nearest but check this out.
