Good and Bad Effects of Sunshine

We aim to gain the benefits of sunlight, air, and water whilst avoiding the ill effects of over-exposure. Getting burnt is considered infra-dig amongst genuine nudists who will have taken care that their body has gradually, over a period of years, built up its own protective resources as much as possible, having regard to one's individual natural skin-colouration type. By year-round sun-bathing when the sun is mellow or obscured, we avoid the sudden shock to the system which many other people

True naturists/ nudists are all-the-year-rounders who, like other members of the animal kingdom, have not lost touch with their instincts, and automatically take cover when the

and EDUCATING them from an early age in awareness of caring for oneself in every way. We constantly advise our members accordingly:-

1. Avoid the mid-day sun during the summer months. Cover up at mid-day, go into the shade or take an indoor siesta.

2. Allow your system to acquire

its own protection by GRADUAL exposure in sunlight (i.e. early morning or late afternoon OR during cooler months of the year) and your

body will become hardened and adaptable to the elements at all seasons.

3. When the sun is shining always wear a hat.

4. Keep a close eye on the children: keep them indoors at mid-day on hot sunny days, for young children are extremely vulnerable to harmful effects of the sun.

5. Use sun-block, sunscreen or zinc ointment if necessary.

In short, we would like to emphasise our claim that nudists are more aware of the skin cancer and other health risks inherent in unwise exposure on sunshine than is the average person know to us as a "textile"!

Have You Received Yours Yet?

Dear Editor,

Why should club secretaries note?

Neither you nor the National body has any right to tell any club what to do. It is up to each individual club to issue Rally registration forms as they see fit, like wise the new membership promotional package.

In-Touch was meant to be the go between club newsletters and the Naturist in letting all members know what was going on around the clubs. When was the last time you included anything from ASC? Etc

Editors Comment. You're absolutely right, the NZNF has no mandate to dictate to clubs or members for that matter. What the Federation exists for is to help clubs grow, organise National rally programmes etc. And when it comes down to the bottom line, it's the spirit that counts.

The NZNF would be very disappointed if promotion brochures sat on Secretaries' shelves, after all clubs did ask the NZNF to produce them. So it's in the clubs interest to do something useful with them. We don't know any club out there with a membership waiting list.

The same sentiment goes with the rally brochures. Sufficient quantities were sent out to club secretaries so that all members would get their own copy to enable them to make up their own minds as to whether they would attend a rally or not.

It appears to me that in some instances as quickly as we go forward we also go backwards just as quick. It was only a few years ago when members rang their secretary for the rally application form, filled it in and returned it to the club secretary for his or her signature before sending it onto the rally committee. The new system allows those wishing to attend the rally to simply complete the form and send it off to the rally committee direct. But they have to have the form in the first place.

As I said earlier, it's the spirit that counts, either we're united in a common purpose or we're not. Editor

Around the Clubs

The feeling around clubs is that there are smaller numbers of members using the club facilities during the holidays.

However much organisation and planning has been going on according to newsletters received. Auckland Sun now have a new drive/access which is a breeze compared with the old, steep access.

Palmerston North are holding their Polar Bare Swim and Sauna weekend on 23-24 June. A whole weekend including sauna, Christmas dinner and party party for $15.50 each and young members under 16 is only $3.

Wanganui Club have recovered from another flooding of their grounds. Well done.

Orchard and Southern Sun have played off for the annual great challenge weekend trophy and Southern Sun won by one point. The hospitality it seems was normal, ie: exceptional.

It's good to hear that Monese from the Orchard is running a youth camp during the August holidays.

And what a great weekend we had at Nelson Club over Easter celebrating their 21st Birthday. Well done President Bill and committee. We were pleased we came.

Finally congratulations to Alan Morrison from Palmerston North on being elected NZNF Treasurer.
