Papamoa Beach

The distance from Tauranga is about 18 km.

Where:-

From Tauranga follow State Highway 2, 15 km towards Mt Maunganui, turning right into Girven Road at the Bayfair roundabout. Go 500 m north along Girven Road, then near Oceanbeach Road, turn right into Maranui Road at the sign to Papamoa. Go 1.5 km to the area (of about 700m) with no houses on the left, and park near the new boardwalk - 50 m to the beach.

What's there:-

Very popular. Please avoid getting too near the houses and do not use the dunes.

Jan 14, CK (American family) - Arrived late in the day, but a couple of other (nude) families still around. Lovely safe beach though. (And handy access along the new boardwalk!)

Mar 04, RW - Good numbers, including families, down there these days.

Dec 02, JL - A meeting between all parties using Papamoa Beach, called by the police, resolved to issue Trespass Notices to anyone loitering in the dunes. The police specified that the nudists were accepted there (on the beach).
