Pohutukawa Bay, Long Bay

The distance from North Shore City is about 10 km.

Where:-

From Takapuna, go 10 km to Long Bay at the northern end of the East Coast Bays, an ARC reserve. Drive as far as possible through the park. Walk north around two points to the second beach. There's a track above the cliffs if the tide is in.

What's there:-

Toilets, water & BBQ facilities (about 1 km south) at Long Bay. Very popular.

Jan 09, CE - A cloudy Sunday but nice in the water - a lovely day, after a friend sent the perve scuttling home!

Dec 06, SB - Windy elsewhere in Auckland, sheltered here - 3 to 4 couples and 10 single males. Not many ventured into the water. I had a quick dip to cool off and found it not too bad. Quite a few textiles wandered by, but no problems. At least they don't stay long.

Jan 06, SB - I was very impressed with this beach as the textiles didn't really venture down this way too much, so will likely return next time the weather is fine. I ended up going for 3 swims and left about 5.30, walking back along the beach.
