This is Peter Owen's stop-over for backpackers and 'Nudvanners'. Rent space in the large building,
right on the roadside (but still private), which is surrounded by lush gardens and the Waihoahoa
stream; use of the substantial area behind, available for tents and caravans (power and a dump-station
available). Along with Owen and Beverley Aldridge (Serendipity Park), Peter is a founding member of Jaybirds, Northland's Naturist
Social group.
Waipu is about 40 km south of Whangarei. The lodge is only 300m from the
landmark spire in the centre of Waipu. It is, nevertheless a large, private space with ever-improving
facilities, like spa and swimming options; for example. Peter generally maintains a convivial atmosphere here,
so lively conversations are a feature!
This is the original building - there is accommodation available here
River Lodge is at 83 The Centre, Waipu. (First left over the bridge, from town.)
