CHARACTERISTICS OF A COMMITTED CLUB MEMBER

While there are a number of ways in which a Club can reduce excessive member loss, ultimately the most effective is through fostering member commitment.

What is commitment? Committed members are characterised first and foremost by three things.

They strongly believe in the clubs goals and values. But not only do they believe in those values, they accept them wholeheartedly and identify with them. They are true club members through and through.

Secondly, committed members not only believe in the club's goals, they are willing to work hard to achieve them.

Finally, the committed member wants to remain with the club. He or she is not looking elsewhere.

Commitment in this sense is in fact more than passive loyalty to the club. It is an active involvement with the club in which members are willing to give something to foster the growth and well-being of the club. Commitment is also more than just getting satisfaction from doing work at the club. It is a more comprehensive concept and develops slowly over a period of time.

Which is why members who stay with the club for more than ten years are more likely to remain members for another ten years.

Wouldn't you like to be a committed club member for life?

AUSTRALIAN NEWS

At the 19th AGM public relations officer Bill Webb for the ANF reports that Lee Elliott (the second Lady President) was voted in for her second term of office.

The convention was another huge success, being held on the Helios grounds nestled in the Dandenong Ranges of Victoria, approximately 80 kms south east of Melbourne.

Nearly 500 nudists came to enjoy and participate in the sports and renew and make friends and friendships. Visitors came thousands of kms from Perth in Western Australia, Darwin, Holland and of course New Zealand.

It is interesting to note that most of the national executive of the ANF come from clubs. Does that sound familiar?

Another Nudist Club was welcomed into the Federation.

Glowing reports were tabled by the two state associations of Queensland and Victoria. Both reported on renewed interest and enthusiasm by the clubs they represent, with a promise of bigger and better things for 1988.

Plans are also at an advanced stage for the Free Beach Campaigns which are scheduled to coincide with World Nudist Day in February. Beach Olympics will be held on beaches located in Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia.

Club levies remain the same as last year. Mary Weston was elected delegate to the next world congress in Yugoslavia and also the next NZNF Rally in Palmerston North. We look forward to seeing you again Mary... and Ted? hopefully.

Finally the next convention is to be held at Tindo in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, and the one after that at Rosco in

NSW. Thanks for the report Bill.

Winner or Loser?

The winner is always a part of the answer. The Loser is always a part of the problem.

The winner always has a plan.
The Loser always has an excuse.

The winner says "let me do it for you."
The loser says "that's not my job."

The winner sees an answer to every problem.
The loser sees two or three sand-traps near every green.

The loser says "it may be possible, but it's too difficult."
The winner says "it may be difficult, but it's possible."

Be a winner

INTOUCH

Dear Roy,

Do you remember the workshop at the Wellington Rally where some comments were made on negative attitudes to nudism?

Well I'm a solo parent, male and have a foster child (boy aged 13), through Social Welfare.

My involvement with the nudist club was fully discussed with Social Welfare social workers and with the boy and his mother.

It's been accepted by all as part of my life, and the boy has accepted it with no problems. Surely one up to the nudist movement!

Regards

Graham MacGregor

The Polar Bear Picnic

Members who went to the "picnic" report that they were completely over-whelmed by the hospitality, the well organised picnic itself, the services made available to campers, along with the friendliness of their club members.

They have very good club grounds as well as very well behaved children. This is a must for all other nudists to visit.

You can't help but like the place. Their weather was as good as any where at this time of the year. Accommodation is available if you book well ahead.

Well done Southern Sun. Sounds like that southern hospitality shines again!
