What's there:-

A clothes-optional motor camp located on the sheltered Waimea Estuary. (New American owners have 'backed away from clothes-optional' which is now restricted to only February and March.) The park covers 10 hectares of pines and sand dune, with swimming pool, tennis, miniten and volleyball courts, a trampoline, flying fox, barbecue, sauna and spa and a TV room. A summer entertainment programme is designed for families; especially teenagers. There are two charter boats for fishing trips, also boat hire and water skiing. The licensed Boatshed Restaurant offers a full cuisine.

Jan 05, JL - The owners decided to further restrict nudity - now theoretically permitted only for February and March. However, nude use of the beach has been reported this January.

Jun 04, CC - I had a wonderful summer mostly visiting magnificent beaches in Nelson and Marlborough during February and March. Mapua is still okay, too.

Mar 04, DD - Problem with Mapua is the new owners don't allow day vistors, so locals can't visit for the day; but one can still walk around the beach at low tide.

Feb 04, KK - Had a great stay - first time since new owners took over. Apart from a few trees cut down and that no nudity around pool at Xmas time before 7 pm (strange I think) not many changes.
