Mellons Bay

The distance from Auckland City is about 19 km.

Where:-

Along the main road, 1 km from the Howick shops, go north into Mellon's Bay Road at the top of the hill. Park at the very end of the road. Walk east (right) 500 m to a little cove (indent, really) at the end of the beach.

What's there:-

A notice at the car-park end says one is not allowed "to be on any part of the beach in view of other persons unless properly and sufficiently clad." So don't walk along the beach naked; but no one has had any trouble in the tiny cove, just past the large rock near the end.
