Rarawa

The distance from Kaitaia is about 52 km.

Where:-

Follow State Highway 1, 48 km north of Kaitaia, toward Cape Reinga. At 14 km north of Houhora Harbour, turn right at Rarawa Beach Access sign: 3.5 km to the ocean beach. It's a short walk to the beach of fine, white sand.

What's there:-

There's a camping ground with pine trees, water, toilets, and cold showers at the end of a southern side road. No animals, no open fires. Supplies available at Houhora.

Nov 07, SX - A lovely spot, though at this time of the year - hardly 'popular'!.

Mar 00, NJ - An awesome beach of lovely, soft, white sand. Quite a few visitors were near the car park, but no one was worried. The southern end was quiet and popular with naturists.

Jan 01, JL - Several textile families were near the car park, but our kids didn't want to leave the shallow lagoon in front of the car park. However, no problems.
