Dear Friends,

As I write, the clouds are still spread out above me, clinging onto what has been a very wet spring. But surely, by the time this reaches you, the sun will be shining again for us as our official season begins.

SUBSCRIPTIONS: Those members who have not paid their subs by mid-November will not be receiving any more newsletters after this one. The rate is now $10. Please include your full name and address, as some people have the same name, and things can pet very muddled.

REMITS: Local Organisers are invited to send in any remits their members would like discussed at committee meetings. We do our best to provide what you want.

FREE BEACH SHOP: Mail orders welcome, postage free. Prices as follows: T-shirts, children 22"-32" $4, adults 34"-44" $6.50 (new stock); towels $6.5O (new stock); pennants "8xl6" $l.5O car stickers 50c.

SWEATSHIRTS: Would anyone like a Fred Bear sweatshirt? It is similar to the T-shirt but with long sleeves and is brushed (nice and warm). Please send $12.50 and your size to the Treasurer. We need enough to make a bulk order. Postage free. Please order promptly.

SAUNA: The sauna at 104 Fanshaw Street is becoming popular with a dedicated following of regulars. Come alone and try it sometime, you'll be delighted.

BEACH LIST: So far I have had details from Whangaruru, Papamoa, We1lington and Nelson. I still need information for Northland, Whangarei, Waiheke, Coromandel, East Coast, West Coast, Canterbury and Dunedin. If nobody sends it, these beaches won't get onto the Beach List.

NZNF RALLY: The N.Z. Nudist Federation Annual Rally is to be held at the Canterbury Sun Club grounds from 29 December to 2 January. Application forms are available from the Secretary.

GEYSERLAND LEISURE PARK: This is the camping ground at Orakei Korako which is being developed as an Optional Dress Tourist Park. It comprises 21 acres of bush and forest on the shores of Lake Ohakuri off the Te Kopia Road, complete with a hot spring and natural spa pool. An area has been cleared for camping and pit toilets provided. Take your own drinking water and cooker.

The park was purchased in l977 and is a joint venture between the Free Beach Group, the Sun Clubs, and anyone else who is interested, being financed by shares of $100 each, contributed by ourselves. Shares are still $100, and a better investment than ever, and all those who are able to put in their bit to boost the project are urged to do so. There is no limit to the number of shares you may hold, and it can be paid in easy instalments if you wish. NATIONAL NUDIST DAY: The Southern Hemisphere World Day of Nudism will be held on Sunday, 29 November.

 

 

OHOPE WEEKEND: The Gisborne Sun Club are holding a naturist weekend 28-29 November at Ken England's Holiday Park, Ohope. We are all invited to attend, and details may be obtained from Jennifer Fairbrother, PRO, Gisborne Sun Club, P.O. Box 25, Tolaga Bay.

GREAT BARRIER ISLAND: A Monday - Friday cruise is proposed in January or February, subject to about 18 people booking. Cost $179 inclusive, leaving from Auckland. Contact Charles Saggers, 2l8 Papamoa Beach Road, R.D.7, Te Puke. Phone Tauranga 57-497.

NGATUHOA LODGE: Anniversary Weekend, 30 Jan - 1 Feb. Cost $5 Adu1ts, $2.50 children. Bring sleeping bags, pillows and food. Contact Charles Saggers as above.

HOLIDAY ACCOMODATION: Furnished room (two single beds), smal1 cooker. Toilet and shower block adjacent. $11 a night, already booked 13-20 Feb. Also a caravan site with power. Write or phone Charles Saggers.

WELLINGTON: I hear the social was a great success, with about 35 people attending. Beach trips will be organised by telephone, weather permitting.

TAKAKA WEEKEND: All FBG members, and especially Nelson members, are invited to Sandy and Marcia Heslop's farm, at the end of Rototai Road (phone Takaka 59-841), for Anniversary Weekend 23 - 25 January 1982. Facilities include a caravan, a tent, barbecue area, shelter trees, water on tap. Pets allowed. Further details from Wellington Organiser John Lowe, phone 899-87l.

SOUTH ISLAND: Please, could some of you far-flung members offer to be Local Organisers, to advertise in your local papers and get more members. All expenses are paid by us; and you'll get all the help and support you need. Don't just sit there all by yourself feeling lonely - get a few more people, and soon enough you'll have a happy little group going like the rest of us.

The Free Beach Group has a great club spirit, a feeling of belonging, and a friendliness I have never encountered anywhere else, so spread the word and gather up some more friends. We are a Club for Everyone.

BUS TRIP TO OMAHA: On Sunday, 6 December we are organising a bus trip to Omaha and inviting all Sun Club members as a gesture of friendship and goodwill. The bus will leave Hunter's Corner in Papatoetoe at 9 a.m. and travel along the Great South Road through Otahuhu, Harp of Erin, Newmarket, K'Road, Takapuna, along East Coast Bays Road through Northcross and join Highway 1 at Silverdale. Return trip leaving about 3.30 p.m. Cost is $4 per seat. Please book before 30 November and indicate where you want to be picked up. Include your phone number. Enquiries to me at 83-62979.

NEWS: Do send us news of your trips and other events, it helps to spread enthusiasm and bonds us together.

CAMPING: We propose to hold a group camp at Waikawau over the Christmas/New Year break. Bill Main advises us that his property will not be available this year, although there are other camping areas nearby, Full details in the next newsletter.

NORRIS'S PLACE: Saturday, 7 November.

Barbecue and weekend camp. Come all day, all weekend, or just for the barbecue, about 5 p.m. Mussels provided, BYOG, music and insect repellent. Drive through Swanson, turn left up the Scenic Drive, then right into Te Henna Road just past the tearooms. Continue until you pass the quarry, Norris is the first letterbox on the right—hand side.

 

LAKE WAINAMU: Sunday, 8 November.

Continue past Norris's place towards Bethell's Beach, park just over the bridge half a mile before the beach. Go through the gate and walk over the sand hills to the lake.

 

OMAHA: Saturday, 14 November. High tide 10 a.m.

From Warkworth drive towards Leigh, then follow the signs to Omaha. Parking right at the beach.

 

CLIFTON ROAD BEACH: Sunday, 15 November. High tide 11 a.m.

Drive towards Devonport, turn left into Clifton Road after Hauraki Corner lights. Walk through a green gate marked 'private' between numbers 7 and 9. Short path with steps to beach.

 

KOWHAI VALLEY SUN CLUB: Saturday, 21 November.

We have been invited to visit these club grounds for the day. Please meet opposite the Swanson Primary School at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. It is about 10 kms beyond Swanson and we will be escorted.

 

TAWHTOKINO: Sunday, 22 November. High tide 5.10 p.m.

Via Kawakawa Bay to end of coast road. Walk east around rocks and over hill, about 30 mins.

 

RICKARD'S POOL, PARAKAI: Friday, 27 November. 6.30 - 10 p.m.

Final night for this year.

Adults $1.00, children 60c. Hosts: N.S.N.C.

 

HUIA: Saturday, 28 November. High tide 12 noon.

Park on road to Lookout, taste track on left to beach.

 

LONG BAY: Sunday, 29 November. High tide 10.25 a.m.

Walk north around the rocks to second beach along.
